Introduction to Bad Hofgastein, Austria
Located in the state of Salzburg, in the western region of Austria, the town of Bad Hofgastein is a renowned ski and health resort close to St Johann im Pongau. About 6,000 people live permanently within the borders of the town, but there are many tourists within the town usually due to its plethora of attractions. Many Bad Hofgastein hotels are extremely luxurious, not to mention expensive. Nevertheless, they are certainly worth the money. The town is famous for its ski fields, which are actually the largest in Europe. However, visitors may remember their thermal hot spring experience here more so than the skiing as soaking in the warm waters here is said to be one of the most rejuvenating health activities in Austria. Away from the skiing and spas, the town boasts an excellent centre, which is pedestrianised and full of wonderful restaurants, cafes and shops. Live music can often be heard in this area on weekends.
