With its location, it’s no surprise that there is some excellent seafood to be enjoyed here and a trip to the bustling fish market in Darling Harbour is an interesting experience with parrot fish, barramundi, John Dory, perch and various shell fish all commonly on offer.
One of the most respected places to enjoy superb seafood in a wonderful setting is Catalina Rose Bay with ocean views through the large glass windows. The food here is strongly influenced by Japanese and Spanish cuisine, with excellent fresh produce, dining here is a great experience.
Surry Hills has a very diverse selection of restaurants with plenty of good food and good value eateries, the kind of area where you might find restaurants serving Russian and Vietnamese food alongside the more common options and popular places include Wagamama the Japanese style restaurant chain.
Darlinghurst is another place to find a good range of diverse eating options and in recent years has developed a reputation for some trendy and more upmarket establishments. Bill’s is one of the trendiest places around and is particularly well known for its superb breakfasts and legendary scrambled eggs. It’s a bustling place throughout the day and has recently begun to serve dinner as well.
Cheaper restaurants, serving tasty food can be found around the inner-city with the most well known areas including King street in Newtown, Glebe Point road in Glebe, and Crown street in Darlinghurst. Many of Sydney’s cheaper places operate bring your own policies, where you can bring your own drinks, although some of them may have a corkage charge, but usually not so in the cheapest places. There is no smoking if you are eating indoors in any Sydney restaurant.
