By air: getting to Darwin by air is very convenient. The city has its own airport, Darwin International, which is located about 6kms from town. The airport provides flights to and from most Australian cities as well as regular connections between Darwin and Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia. The airlines serving the airport include Qantas, Royal Brunei, Garuda, Tiger Air and Merpati Nusantara.
Facilities provided for passengers are excellent and include a selection of shops, restaurants and bars. There are also postal services, ATMs, amusement zones, internet services and facilities for disabled passengers. Ground transportation links include shuttle bus services as well as taxis.
By bus: many visitors choose to arrive in Darwin by bus. Taking a bus is a great way to experience an Outback road trip without having to drive yourself. There are many coaches servicing the Northern Territory from many destinations.
By car: driving to Darwin is easy as it is well linked to many highways. The Stuart Highway runs from Adelaide to Darwin, taking in many major tourist spots along the way such as Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Katherine. The Barkly Highway travels from Townsville while the Victoria Highway will lead you from Perth.
