Getting There

Getting to Canberra
By air: Canberra International Airport is served by several major airlines such as British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Untied Airlines while the local airlines, Qantas and Kendell, offer a number of flights throughout the country.
The airport is 9kms from the city centre and facilities include: restaurants, bars, bookstores, postal services and internet facilities. To get into a city, you can take a taxi, bus or hire car. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes. The airport also provides shuttle services into the city which operate hourly from Monday to Friday.
By rail: trains connect Canberra to Sydney and Melbourne, as well as other states in the country. Aussiepass tickets can be bought from Countrylink and can be used with both local and interstate systems. For more information, visit www.countrylink.info
By car: many tourists choose to drive to Canberra. The city is 300kms away from Sydney and 650kms from Melbourne. Take the Hume Highway from both Sydney and Melbourne, which will lead you into the city.
