Brisbane Travel Guide
By air: the international airport is located less than 15 kilometres away from Brisbane and handles flights from several parts of the world including Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, America, China, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Europe and many other places. The domestic airport is situated less than 20kms from the city.
By train: passengers will almost certainly have to complete their train journey by bus as the tracks in Queensland are a different size to those in other areas of the country. The journey from Melbourne to Brisbane takes over 24 hours, while it is an overnight journey from Sydney.
By road: to get to Brisbane, all you have to do is follow the clearly marked signs on the excellent highways. It takes about one hour to drive from the Gold Coast which is approximately 90kms away. The city is about a 1000kms from Sydney using the Pacific Highway and about two hours from Noosa, in the north.
Cairns is almost 1700kms away and it takes several days to drive to, but there are lovely places to stop and spend the night en route. Drivers should take care that they don’t suffer from driving fatigue as a result of the long distances.
