Introduction to Young NSW, Australia
Low hills circle the valley where Australia's cherry capital of Young is located, 376kms west of Sydney. Cherries have replaced gold as the dominant industry in this community which boasted the world's two biggest cherry orchards in 1923. The busiest time of year for Young NSW hotels remains the National Cherry Festival. This 10-day festival begins on the final weekend of November to mark the start of the cherry harvest. However, visitors may follow the local historic walk at all times of the year. This walk takes visitors past Carrington Park and the Burrangong Art Gallery, which is situated next to the tourist information centre. An 1862 barber's chair, equipment for cleaning gold, an 1867 sewing machine and a magic lantern projecting device are just some of the Lambing Flat Folk Museum's fascinating exhibits. The Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Gardens were created to emulate Cowra's Japanese gardens and are situated next to the old Chinamans Dam. Even more gardens surround the Jack's Australiana Slab Hut antique museum and the adjacent Pat's Doll Museum, where at least 2,000 dolls are displayed.other spellings: young nswhotels, young new suoth wales hote, yuong nsw hotell, toung nsw otel
