Introduction to Yarrawonga, Australia
The twin towns of Yarrawonga and Mulwala lie on opposite banks of the Murray River, set in Victoria and New South Wales, respectively, as the river marks the boundary between the two states. Immediately downstream, the river is dammed, giving Yarrawonga its main visitor attraction, Lake Mulwala. Boating, fishing, kayaking and exploring the lakeside are all popular activities during a holiday here. Yarrawonga Airport is the local domestic point of arrival. Sandy beaches line the river's bank, with vineyards adorning the hills and wineries in town producing delicious wines. The town boasts a standard golf club happy to welcome visitors for a game or two, and there's a good choice of Yarrawonga hotels, clubs, pubs and restaurants in town as well as museums, an animal farm, an amusement park and daytime or dinner cruises along the lake.
