Introduction to Yandina, Australia
Yandina is a small town of around 1,000 inhabitants in the hinterlands of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, just to the west of the Bruce Highway. The town is approximately 100kms north of Brisbane and has been nicknamed the 'Ginger Town' due to the local ginger trade. The town is set in some of Queensland's most beautiful countryside which is home to some of the country's best loved wildlife, including koalas and kangaroos. Nature enthusiasts will be impressed by the nature parks in the area, where in addition to the wildlife there are various walking trails to enjoy. One of the major attractions in Yandina is Buderim Ginger Factory, which has expanded over the years to cater for tourists. Here, you can learn about ginger production and the history of the factory, take a train tour through the factory's rainforest on board one of the state's original cane trains or take a short boat ride through 16 of the world's different geographical and cultural zones. There are not many Yandina hotels to choose from, but among the options is one occupying what is the oldest hotel building in Queensland.
