Introduction to Woolgoolga, Australia
Woolgoolga's two fine beaches, location on the Pacific Highway and banana groves together with its temperate climate have made it a poplar tourism destination for a break in a longer journey or a more extended stay. Set in New South Wales, 550kms to the north of Sydney and 25kms from Coffs Harbour, the town has the unusual features of two Indian temples, the Sikh Gurdwara and the Guru Nanak Gurdwara. Connected with its Indian population is the town's greatest event, Curryfest, held every year in April to celebrate the culture and cuisine of the Sikh community. Several attractive Woolgoolga hotels, a pub and a good selection of Indian restaurants as well as local eateries make the town a good base for touring the area. Sports are big here as well, with soccer, football and other ball game matches played regularly. The beaches are a destination for surfers, swimmers, sunbathers and snorkelers.
