Wodonga is a town of approximately 30,000 inhabitants located on the Victoria side of the Victoria-New South Wales state border, with its neighbouring town, Albury, on the other side.
The town lies roughly 300kms northeast of Melbourne and 550kms southwest of Sydney and the Hume Highway, the main inland route connecting Melbourne and Sydney, which passes through the town centre.
There is a railway station in Wodonga which is on the Melbourne to Albury line.
Australia's longest river, the Murray River, passes just east of the town and is undoubtedly the area's biggest attraction.
There are a number of walking and biking trails by the river as well as excellent fishing conditions.
There are a couple of Wondonga hotels to choose from, although the majority of accommodation in the area tends to be in Albury.
The town boasts an 18-hole golf course and a horseracing club which stages seven race meetings each year, with November's Wodonga Cup being the highlight.
A slightly strange landmark in the town is the world's biggest rolling pin, which can be seen above Henri's Bakery.
