Introduction to Wodonga - Bandiana
Bandiana, Australia, is the name of both a tiny military village and large army museum, both situated just four kilometres southeast of the neighbouring communities of Wodonga, Victoria and Albury, New South Wales. The quiet location of many Bandiana hotels in this village of just 114 people has attracted numerous visitors to this popular holiday region over the years. This area is conveniently located approximately halfway between Australia's national capital, Canberra, and Victoria's state capital, Melbourne. Not surprisingly, the Bandiana Army Museum is the biggest attraction within this small military community. Few military museums in all of Australia are as large in either size or variety of exhibits as this museum, situated in the Gaza Ridge Barracks. Extensive collections of military uniforms, weapons, vehicles, medals and vehicles are all displayed here, depicting the activities of Australia's army from 1863 to present times. This museum also features electric barbeques which can be used for free, and the memorial gardens boast covered seating for if the skies open.
