Introduction to Walpole, Australia
Walpole is a small town in Western Australia, around 268 miles from its capital, Perth. It is located on the northern shore of the Walpole Inlet, which has been settled since the early 20th century. However, there is a golf course on the east shore which may appeal to visiting sportspeople. Walpole hotels cater to hikers who are completing parts of the Bibbulmun Track. This walking trail stretches for more than 600 miles from Kalamunda to Albany. The town is one of few settlements which lie directly on the trail. The main tourist attraction is Walpole-Nornalup National Park, with its Valley of the Giants walk through the treetops. The walk is 40-metres high, yet accessible to those in wheelchairs. The walk offers close-up views of the karri and red tingle trees which make up the park's forested areas. The red tingle trees are considered to be unique to the local area. The park even stretches as far as the coastline, where Conspicuous Cliff provides the park's only sea view.
