Introduction to Toowoomba, Australia
Toowoomba is a city in the south of Queensland, around 79 miles west of Brisbane. With a population of nearly 129,000, it is one of the largest inland cities in Australia. Many travellers get here by taking one of the Greyhound coaches which depart from Brisbane's Roma Street Transit Centre. However, the weekly train journey is much more scenic, taking around 3 hours, 30 minutes. Given the size of the city, it is unsurprising that there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. Some of the best views of the surrounding areas are from Picnic Point, a scenic lookout on the Range. This park is located around three miles east of the city centre. Another good picnic spot is the former Spring Bluff Railway Station, courtesy of its beautiful gardens. On wet days, guests staying at Toowoomba hotels might like to learn about the Australian army at Milne Bay Military Museum. On the other hand, they could catch a show at the city's Empire Theatre, which dates back to the early 20th century.
