Introduction to Sydney - Woolloomooloo
The exotically-named Woolloomooloo is located in the harbour district of Australia's most famous city, Sydney. In days gone by, the district's streets were filled with drunken sailors, and the area was considered to be a rough place. Nowadays, the place attracts urban professionals living in renovated apartment blocks. The regeneration of the area has also seen a number of trendy bars and restaurants spring up. Here, residents mix with visiting tourists keen on enjoying the entertainment on offer. Woolloomooloo hotels offer easy access to the Royal Botanic Gardens which border the district. The gardens are the main attraction but the gardens sometimes host film screenings on summer evenings. However, the gardens normally open during daylight hours only. Next to the gardens is the Domain; this is another city park where classical music concerts are often held. A nice way to get here is by taking the train to St James Station followed by a 20-minute walk to Woolloomooloo.
