Introduction to Sydney - Homebush Bay
Homebush Bay is a former suburb of Sydney in Australia. In 2009, the areas comprising the district were absorbed by three autonomous suburbs; Sydney Olympic Park, Wentworth Point and Lidcombe. The vast Olympic Park is of most interest to visiting tourists, especially the Olympic Stadium. There are regular tours of the stadium, but the surrounding areas are generally very quiet when there are no events taking place. There are two big events which take place at the neighbouring Sydney Showground each year. The Royal Easter Show is an agricultural event which is largely popular for its food and fairground rides. The other main event is the Big Day Out, which is an international rock festival at the end of January. During these events as well as sporting events at the Olympic Stadium, it's well worth booking Homebush Bay hotels well in advance. Most visitors get here by taking a train to Olympic Park Station but buses and ferries also connect Homebush Bay to other parts of the city. Visit our Sydney Travel Guide
