Introduction to Sydney - Haymarket
The Sydney, Australia suburb of Haymarket is situated at the southern end of the central business district. Many visitors know Haymarket has the home of Sydney's Chinatown for more than a century and a half, but fewer people may know it is also the location of the city's Spanish quarter. Many Haymarket hotels are heritage listed accommodations housed inside historic buildings. The district's most famous attraction is Paddy's Market, first established as the location of Sydney's produce markets during the early 20th century. Today, the two large locations of the market contain a combined number of more than 1,000 stalls selling virtually everything under the sun. Other attractions in the district include the Sydney Entertainment Centre, the gigantic Powerhouse Museum, which ranks among Australia's largest, and the many modern cinemas, shops, and places to eat inside the Peak apartment building. Sydney's main rail station can be found at the area's southern border, while Darling Harbour is situated directly next to Haymarket.Visit our Sydney Travel Guide
