Introduction to Sydney - Bondi Junction
The Sydney suburb of Bondi Junction is the next-door neighbour to Bondi Beach suburb, with its world famous surfing beach. Located just six kilometres to the east of the vast conurbation's central business district, Bondi Junction is a mainly commercial area in a state of development flux focused on shopping facilities since the end of the last century. Access to the city centre is via rail on the CityRail Eastern Suburbs Line or by fast road. Itself a large business district, the suburb is now crammed with high-rise, high-density developments including Bondi Junction hotels that mostly cater for business travellers. A few Victorian and early 20th century buildings remain, mostly comprising housing stock and religious buildings, with many having been replaced by the suburb's extensive shopping malls.
