Introduction to Sydney - Airport
Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is the gateway to Australia for over 35 million passengers a year, and is the country's busiest as well as national flag carrier Qantas's main hub. Located in the suburb of Mascot close to Botany Bay, two of its three runways jut out into the ocean on reclaimed land. Its main claim to fame is its record as one of the planet's oldest continually operating airports. Sydney Airport has three passenger terminals, with the international Terminal One separated from the others by a runway. As a result, connecting passengers should allow at least an hour between flights. Terminals Two and Three mostly deal with domestic and low-cost flights, serving JetStar, Tiger Airways and Qantaslink as well as Virgin Australia. Sydney Airport hotels on or close to the vast complex are accessible via hotel shuttle buses or local metered taxis. Transportation to Sydney and the rest of the continent is by rail, bus or hire car, with two rail stations on the concourses serving international and domestic arrivals and departures. Road connections are excellent and motorway-style, giving fast links to the city centre and onwards across the state.Visit our Sydney Travel Guide
