Introduction to Swan Valley, Australia
Swan Valley is a region in Western Australia, just 25 minutes' drive from the state capital, Perth. It is considered to be one of the most scenic areas in the Perth region, appealing to those interested in the arts, history and first-class dining. The best way to experience the region is by following the Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail. This trail is around 20 miles long and features art galleries, restaurants and of course, Swan Valley hotels. Maps of the trail are available from the region's visitors centre, located in Guildford's Old Courthouse. While in historical Guildford, it is well worth completing the Guildford Heritage Walk Trail, which passes Australia's longest-running pub. Guests will have plenty of opportunity to visit the various wineries on the Food and Wine Trail, but beer lovers might like to make a detour to the Feral Brewery, home to the award-winning Feral White Beer and Rust Beer. Many travellers like to explore the region independently, but there are also a number of tours for those who prefer someone else to do all the organising. These tours use several forms of transport, including horse-drawn wagons and cruise boats.
