The lovely Australian coastal resort of Scotts Head lies along the New South Wales coast, midway between Brisbane and Sydney. An hour's drive to the north is Coffs Harbour, with Port Macquarie an hour away to the south. The town's population of around 800 permanent residents swells during holiday periods and weekends, with surfers arriving to ride the Pacific Ocean waves with their famous right-hand breaks. Visitors stay either in Scotts Head hotels or the well-equipped camping ground. Fishing is another favourite sport here, as are boogie boarding, surf-skiing and swimming. The area's prime attraction apart from the ocean and beaches is the picturesque surrounding topography, which is especially popular with birders for the large number of indigenous and migratory species in the area. Nearby destinations of natural beauty include Way-Way Creek Nature Reserve, Mount Yarrahapinini, Nambucca, Stuart's Point and Grassy Head with its spectacular sea views. The town itself is known for its friendly people and laid-back vibes.
