Best-known as Australia's horse capital thanks to its large number of thoroughbred racehorses, Scone has a number of attractions which might appeal to visiting tourists. Sydney is nearly 400kms from Scone, which can be reached using the Countrylink service between Sydney and Armidale. On arrival, passengers will find that the train station is only 100m from the main street. Kelly Street is home to shops, supermarkets and Scone hotels, which are worth booking well ahead for stays during the annual horse festival (May). On the corner of Kelly Street and Susan Street, guests will find the Tourist Information Centre, a good place to learn about the region's attractions.
