Located on the shores of Lake Pieman and set against the backdrop of Mount Black, Tasmania's Rosebery is a former mining town that has become a popular resting place with travellers plying the Murchison Highway. Most commercial activity is concentrated in and around Agnes Street, where guests staying at Rosebery hotels can find a pharmacy, a post office and a cafe. Situated to the west of the town, Lake Pieman is a popular spot for trout fishing, with a number of boat ramps here allowing visitors to launch their own vessels. On the shore, dedicated picnic and barbecue areas cater to visiting families. The local golf course is located to the south of Lake Pieman, on the other side of the Murchison Highway. It is considered to be one of the most scenic courses on the island. Two kilometres south of Rosebery, travellers will find the start of a track to Montezuma Falls, the highest waterfall in Tasmania. This return walk takes around 3 hours through lush rainforest, allowing hikers to see native birdlife on the way.
