Introduction to Point Lookout, Australia
Ranked among Queensland's best spots for scuba diving and whale watching, Point Lookout is situated in the far north of North Stradbroke Island. A number of ferry operators run regular services to the island, departing from Cleveland, on the mainland. Local buses are timed to meet all ferry arrivals, conveniently transferring passengers to Point Lookout hotels. The best time for whale watching is between May and September. Visitors don't even need to go out to sea since the headland affords impressive land views of these migrating sea mammals. Looking towards Fisherman's Beach from the headland, visitors can often see dolphins splashing around in the waves, too. Guests looking for more organised pursuits can join a full-day tour of the island, featuring a stop at one of the island's excellent fish and chip shops. The local youth hostel hosts an excellent scuba diving outfit which arranges regular diving trips and PADI courses. The ocean off Point Lookout is well-known for the so-called Manta Ray Brommie, a meeting point for manta rays, bull rays and harmless leopard sharks.other spellings: point lookouthotels, piont lookout hotell, point lokout hote, point lookuot otel
