Introduction to Parachilna, Australia
Parachilna, located to the northwest of the Flinders Ranges, is a former South Australian town. The town is best-known as the setting for the famous Australian film, Rabbit Proof Fence. Nowadays, the train station, the airstrip and a few other buildings from the film remain. One of the famous Parachilna hotels is open for lunch, serving meats such as emu and kangaroo as well as a number of exotic plants. The train station is now derelict, but the three-kilometre long coal train which passes through it each evening is a sight to behold. Heading east to Blinman, travellers will drive through the Parachilna Gorge, one of the region's most stunningly beautiful sights. Visitors continuing on to the Flinders Ranges will have the opportunity to climb the highest peak in the range, St Mary Peak. Travellers can get here by completing the 500km journey from Adelaide on National Route 32. This journey should take between 5 and 6 hours. other spellings: parachilma hotels sa, parachilan otel, parachinla hotell, parachlina hotes, paracihlna
