Introduction to Narooma, Australia
Narooma is a town on the south coast of New South Wales, along the Pacific Highway, approximately 350kms from Sydney. The town was built up on land almost entirely surrounded by the Wagonga River, the river's estuary and the Pacific Ocean, and the town's name actually derives from the aboriginal word for clear blue waters. Not surprisingly, water sports are extremely popular in the area, with excellent fishing and swimming conditions on offer, while the beaches are made up of golden stretches of sand. Another popular attraction in Narooma is whale watching, and there are a number of chartered boats which visitors can head out to sea on in the hope of catching a glimpse of one of these fascinating creatures in the wild. Golfing enthusiasts must not miss out on the cliff-top golf course, widely considered as one of the country's finest, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
