Popular with both skiers and cyclists, Baw Baw National Park is a year-round tourist destination just 120kms from Melbourne. Mount Baw Baw hotels are located in the nearby alpine village, a little outside the national park boundary. This village is situated at the bottom of two chair lifts, which skiers can use to access six downhill slopes during the ski season (July to September). One of the lifts offers access to the mountain peak. The slopes tend to cater to skiers at a beginner or intermediate level and are connected to a number of cross-country paths. These paths lead to other areas on the Baw Baw plateau. Guests can reach the village by taking the Mount Baw Baw Tourist Road, which is also a steep and challenging route for keen road cyclists. On the southwest of Mount Baw Baw is a downhill mountain-biking track, accessible by one of many shuttle buses which ply the Tourist Road. This championship-standard track takes between three and four minutes to complete.
