Introduction to Moama, Australia
Moama is a New South Wales town of over 3,000 people. This Australian town is located on the banks of the Murray River and sits across from its twin in Victoria, Echucha. Its twin is much larger and caters better to tourists. However, Moama hotels offer a peaceful retreat away from the crowds of visitors across the river. Travellers can get here by taking a train to Echucha and then crossing the bridge across the Murray River. Trains depart from Melbourne around five times a day during the week. Visitors should note that the town becomes particularly crowded each February, when the Southern 80 Water Ski Race takes place. The town is a popular destination among golfers and bowling enthusiasts. Both Rich River Golf Club and Moama Bowling Club have hosted important tournaments on a national scale. The town also appeals to gamblers, who come to play the large number of slot machines. However, numbers visiting solely for gambling have tailed-off since the legalisation of such machines in Victoria.
