Introduction to Midge Point, Australia
Midge Point is the name of a coastal community, a nearby cape and the road which connects both destinations along eastern Queensland's mainland Whitsunday Coast. The combined amount of rooms in Midge Point hotels may outnumber its permanent population of just 480 residents. The town is rumoured to have received its name from either a woman who lived on the land when it was first surveyed or a boat shipwrecked along its coast. The coast's numerous unnamed, small estuaries and creeks provide equally numerous fishing and recreation opportunities. Mount Blackwood's tropical creek looms in the background of Repulse Bay beach and its surrounding rainforest trails. Swimming here is not recommended during stinger season, but safe waters can be found in Mackay Point or the 74 nearby Whitsunday Islands. The community lies south of the renowned Laguna Quays Golf Resort. Daily temperatures in this tropical community average at 31°C in summer and 24 °C in winter. other spellings: midgepoint hotle, midge pointhotels, midge piont hotell, migde point otel, nidge point hote
