Attwood, Australia, is one of Melbourne's northernmost suburbs and probably best known as the training camp for the police of the state of Victoria, although its amenities and surrounding countryside make it a place often used as an extended stopover by tourists. Attwood hotels all have convenient locations just east of the international airport, 18kms north of the central business district and between the suburbs of Westmeadows and Greenvale. This district may lie north of the busy Tullamarine Freeway, but its surrounding gardens help create a relaxing atmosphere far removed from busy roads. The local Post Office is located in the Gladstone Park Shopping Centre, the nearest to the suburb. The shopping centre shares its name with the adjacent Gladstone Park Reserve, which features a playground and several sporting fields. The nearby Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, which both pedestrians and cyclists can use, takes visitors past the Willowbrook Reserve and the Woodlands Historic Park.
