The small Victoria town of Marysville is currently under reconstruction after February 2009 bushfires destroyed 90 per cent of its buildings. Today, many Marysville hotels are again welcoming visitors after the town has reopened itself to the public following the Black Saturday bushfires. The visitor information centre still stands in its original location and greets tourists seven days a week. Many of the local craft shops, cafes and art galleries have resumed business. Although Steavenson Falls is still being reconstructed, this scenic spot is open on weekends. The surrounding forest tracks are the best places to enjoy the natural surroundings of the town. The fires heavily damaged Bruno's Sculpture Garden, but the Crystal Journey gardens and shop remain relatively undamaged. The nearby Lake Mountain ski resort continues to welcome winter visitors, while bikers still drive along the Black and Reefton spur roads in summer.
