Introduction to Malanda, Australia
The medium-sized community of Malanda sits in the scenic Southern Atherton Tablelands, along the Johnstone River, 50kms southwest of Cairns. Many North Queensland residents associate the town's name with cheese and milk as its famous dairy company was once the headquarters for one of the world's longest milk runs. Today, one of the stateliest Malanda hotels claims to be Australia's biggest wooden structure, while the town is also home to the nation's oldest continually-operating cinema. The town's art trail begins at the library and takes visitors past nine vibrant works of art depicting different states in local history. The local swimming pool is situated at the base of the falls which share the town's name. An environmental park with a trail through rainforest lies opposite the falls. Tree kangaroos have been spotted crossing the road through the top of the falls and visitors can swim in the river beneath without fear of stingers or crocodiles.other spellings: malenda otel au, malandar hote au, malandahotels, malamda hotell au
