Introduction to Mackay - West Mackay
As its name suggests, the suburb of West Mackay, Australia is just five kilometres southwest of Mackay's city centre. This Queensland region's tourism industry is still growing, with millions of visitors spending at least one night at one of the several West Mackay hotels each year, many of which have been open for less than a decade. West Mackay is mainly a residential district, and a home to the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens. These gardens have only been open since 2003, but they contain ample bird-watching opportunities, boardwalks along scenic wetlands and a network of cycling and walking trails which total at more than three kilometres in length. The gallery and cafe perched above Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens allows visitors to see flora from throughout Australia and the world. West Mackay's other main tourist attraction is Mackay City Cemetery, whose one and a half kilometre heritage walk takes visitors on a tour of Mackay history.other spellings: west mackayhotels, westmackay otel, west makay hotell, west mackey hote
