The world's longest jetty juts nearly six kilometres into the sea at the port of Lucinda, situated in the middle of Australia's sugar cane country, 120kms north of Townsville and 24kms north of Ingham, in northern Queensland. Lucinda hotels include several holiday units, a modest motel and a caravan park. Many visitors enjoy touring the long jetty and its surrounding sugar cane facilities, but the surrounding shores and sugar cane scenery may be even more popular attractions. This relaxing village of just 450 people is situated at the Hinchinbrook Channel's southern end, directly across from Hinchinbrook Island's southern end. This is Australia’s biggest national park island, whose Thorsborne Trail is ranked among the world’s top 10 scenic walks. It takes roughly five days to hike the 32km trail along the eastern edge of this 36km long island that is often called the ‘jewel in Queensland's crown’. The Hinchinbrook Channel and the estuary system which surrounds it are famous for their crab fishing.
