Introduction to Lake St Clair, Australia
Officially Australia’s deepest lake at 200 metres, Lake St Clair lies in an area of stunning natural beauty within the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park in the centre of Tasmania. The area is almost devoid of human life and much cooler than elsewhere in Australia, which makes it a unique region for hiking. It features a host of wildlife such as possums and wallabies. Some of the walks take just a few hours, while others require a few days and permits from the park entrance. Visitors spending an extended holiday here can venture a few miles south to Lake King William, which is within easy walking distance across the main A10 road, the only way into Lake St Clair at its southern end. Lake St Clair hotels come in the form of basic lodgings overlooking the water. For more comfortable accommodation, head to the main road at Derwent Bridge, just two miles away.other spellings: lake st clairhotels, lake st cliar hotell, lake st klair otel, lake st clare hote
