Introduction to Lake Eucumbene, Australia
Located in the Snowy Mountains, the highest range in Australia, Lake Eucumbene is a major destination for visitors escaping the capital, Canberra, which is about one hour to the north by car. The lake was created when the Eucumbene River was dammed in the 1950s, causing the town of old Adaminaby to become submerged. However, the receding banks of the lake have in recent years revealed the sunken remains of the town, causing large interest from media and tourists visiting the area. During its relatively short life, Lake Eucumbene has become one of the best areas for trout fishing in New South Wales. Koscuisko National Park borders the western shoreline of the lake and is home to the tallest peaks in the country at over 2,000 metres high. Lake Eucumbene hotels are all situated in Adaminaby and Anglers Reach, both major centres on the trout fishing trail.other spellings: lake eukumbene hote, lake eucumbenehotels, lake eucambene hotell, lake eucumbine otel
