Featuring a stunning saltwater inland lake that feeds into the ocean in southern New South Wales, Lake Conjola is hugely popular with tourists looking for something different on this long stretch of coastline. The name relates to an island and a section of water that flows into a series of other lakes in the area, all of which attract fishermen due to the large populations of fish here, including bream and jewfish. Sailing is another major pastime in this community of just 400. Just to the south of the lake area is Pattimores Lagoon, a small isolated body of water. Narrawalle Creek Nature Reserve offers a large, scenic area for outdoor pursuits including camping and hiking. This is also a great area for mountain biking. Lake Conjola hotels are dotted around the fringe of the nature reserve and are particularly popular with weekend visitors from Wollongong and further north including Sydney.
