Introduction to Kununurra - City Centre

Kununurra is a remote town in the far northeast of Western Australia. There's not much to see in the town itself, but it's an excellent base for exploring the vast Kimberly region. Travellers can get here by flying to the town's airport, just two and a half miles from several Kununurra City Centre hotels. Taxis meet every flight, while some places to stay offer a free courtesy bus to their accommodation. The most scenic spots are outside the town, but Lake Kununurra has a few picnic spots, with swimming and cruises as far as the Ord Dam on offer. Routes around the lake vary according to the time of year and which particular points of interest look good at that time. The other nearby attraction is Kelly's Knob, the highest point in the town and an excellent vantage point. The most scenic views are at sunset. The town isn't great for shopping; however, some of the local handicrafts are worth a look.
