Introduction to Kingaroy, Australia
Nicknamed Australia’s peanut capital, Kingaroy is a small inland farming town on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The skyline of Halley Street, in the centre of town, features huge peanut silos that serve as a major tourist attraction. The Kingaroy Peanut Festival in August, along with the Wine and Food in the Park event each March, ranks among the most popular of the many cultural events that take place here. Taste South Burnett is a wine merchant that sources the best reds and whites from local vineyards as well as offering the local peanut wine, which visitors can taste and buy on site. There are a number of additional vineyards located just outside of Kingaroy. The centre of the town is dominated by Bjelke Peterson Recreation Reserve along with a number of smaller parks and green spaces that further add to its appeal. Kingaroy hotels offer good service and many serve up excellent food.
