A green and pleasant suburb of northern Brisbane, Kallangur is just a few miles from some great beaches and the very centre of the city. It’s a town surrounded by water and greenery, given it’s located by the Pine River Estuary and a host of protected scenic areas including Alice Mawson Reserve, John Oxley Reserve and Black Duck Reserve. The wetlands of Lake Kurwongbah, a superb area for walking and boating, are just two miles west. The best hiking area close by is Tinchi Tamba Reserve Wetlands, five miles south, which lies on the southern bank of a bend in the Pine River as it flows out to sea at Bramble Bay. The centre of Brisbane takes just 30 minutes to reach by car from here and the main airport is even closer. Kallangur hotels are all located close to Anzac Avenue, a WWI memorial avenue featuring bronze sculptures and gardens along with other memorials to more recent theatres of war.
