A historic little inland town in New South Wales, Junee is just 10 miles north of Wagga Wagga. The town’s main claim to fame is Monte Cristo Homestead, a beautiful late Victorian manor that is said to be the most haunted building in all of Australia following a number of grisly occurrences here during its 125-year history. The house is said to be home to a number of ghosts, along with a museum and an antique store which usually prove much less offensive to the brave visitors that flock here. Junee also has a licorice and chocolate factory which is popular with families, a historical museum and a central war memorial. Just to the east of town is a golf course and there is a train station here with connections to Sydney and Melbourne. Junee hotels are mostly concentrated in the central area, close to the station, some of which are housed within attractive settlers’ buildings.
