Hobart International Airport is located 17kms east of the Tasmanian city of the same name, and has experienced strong passenger growth over the last few years, spurred by the expansion of services provided by low-cost carriers. More than a million passengers were handled in 2008-2009, with Hobart Airport's throughput one of the fastest growing on the continent. The single terminal hosts both international and domestic flights, with the major carriers being Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Tiger Airways. A unique feature is its regular Antarctic flights for the Australian Antarctic Division. Hobart Airport hotels include an attractive four-star motel on the complex itself, as well as a selection around the airport's perimeters.
