Introduction to Halls Creek, Australia
Halls Creek is a quaint town within the eastern region of Australia named East Kimberly. It is a relatively small town that doesn't attract large tourist numbers, yet there are a number of attractions including China Wall, Purnululu National Park and Wolfe Creek Crater to placate passers-bys coming in on the Great Northern Highway. Hotels in Halls Creek mostly cater to those making an overnight stop en route to Broome. Visitors will need to drive 200kms from the town to reach Wolfe Creek Crater, where a meteorite struck around 300,000 years ago. The site features in the 2005 horror movie Wolf Creek. Closer to the town is the World Heritage Purnululu National Park, at 120kms from Halls Creek. Here sandstone domes with striking grey and orange bands make for wonderful photographs. There park is best visited during the dry season (early April to late December) by four-wheel drive tour.
