Introduction to Gold Coast - Coolangatta
For many people headed north to the Gold Coast from New South Wales, Coolangatta is their first stop in the state of Queensland because it is both the southernmost community of the Gold Coast conurbation and the home of the airport which serves this popular Australian tourist destination. Most Coolangatta hotels and holiday apartments can be found almost on top of at least one of Coolangatta's beautiful beaches such as Greenmount and Rainbow Bay, both popular places to surf and swim. An even bigger surfing challenge can be found at Point Danger, where the sea connects with the borders of both New South Wales and Queensland. Nearby Cook Island is a popular scuba diving spot, while Coolangatta's coastline can be best explored on foot or bicycle along a 36kms trail network. The famous Big Avocado is merely the largest of the many things to see at the educational Tropical Fruit World park where visitors can also taste experimental fruit samples.
