Introduction to Gold Coast - Carrara
Home to the Gold Coast Suns, an Australian Rules Football team, Carrara is an inland suburb situated on the south bank of the Nerang River. The local team has played at the Metricon Stadium since 2011 and as such, Carrara hotels are convenient bases for spectators attending matches here. The stadium is located on the eastern outskirts, around two kilometres from the suburban centre. South of the stadium, the Emerald Lakes Golf Course offers a good opportunity for visiting golfers to improve their handicap, while the Carrara Markets allow shoppers to explore the biggest permanent marketplace in Queensland. Located six kilometres southeast of the centre, on Gooding Avenue, the markets' 500 stalls specialise in locally-made goods such as handicrafts and organic produce. The markets take place every weekend and attract a good mix of locals and tourists alike. The suburb is served by Nerang Railway Station, a 30-minute walk from the centre.
