Situated between Gladstone to the north and the Sunshine Coast to the south, Gin Gin is a small town about 30 miles inland from the Queensland coast.

Just a half-hour drive west of Bundaberg and strategically located halfway between the cities of Rockhampton and Brisbane, the town has become a stopover for drivers, meaning it often seems much more populated than its measly population of just 900 people suggests.

Gin Gin is just a short drive away from scenic Lake Monduran, just to the north, which offers striking scenery and good walking country.

The Wild Scotsman Festival is the main event in town, held each year in March to commemorate the capture of a bushranger, or runaway convict, in the area some 150 years ago.

Despite its small stature, the town has a host of Gin Gin hotels dotted along the main Bruce Highway, with a good selection of quality accommodation.
