Introduction to Flinders Ranges, Australia
Encompassing a number of national parks, the Finders Ranges in South Australia are the largest range in the country, featuring a number of attractions and stunning scenery in this sparsely populated corner of Australia. One of the best ways to see the area is by the old Pichi Richi Railway, a steam line that was constructed back in 1878 but today is a tourist attraction and museum that cuts through the mountains. Flinders Ranges National Park is one of the most spectacular of the parks here, with aboriginal art, small canyons and an intriguing rock formation just outside nicknamed the Great Wall of China. The most popular walks in the area are the Mawson Trail and Heysen Trail, which run for several hundred miles and are ideal for walkers, horseback riders and cyclists.
