Located in the east of Tasmania, Fingal is a small town surrounded by impressive natural scenery. The stunning landscape has seen the town start to appear on the Australian tourist trail. The town is surrounded by protected state land, which makes it an excellent base to explore a number of attractions just a short drive away. Starting just a few miles to the northeast is Ben Lomond National Park, which includes the second-highest peak in Tasmania at close to 5,000-feet high as well as the state's main ski resort, which sees steady supplies of snow during the winter months of June and July. Walking in the park is the main activity, with numerous hilly trails and spectacular views. Saint Pauls Regional Reserve and Avenue Forest Regional Reserve, just a few miles from the town, are also excellent areas for walking. Fingal hotels are limited in number due to the size of the town, but there a handful of options on the Esk Highway.
