Introduction to Edithburgh, Australia
Set on South Australia’s lovely Yorke Peninsula, the pretty little hamlet of Edithburgh, with its 395 inhabitants, lies 50kms to the west of Adelaide via a boat trip across Gulf St Vincent, but only 226kms by road. The jetty provides mooring for a small prawning and fishing fleet as well as being a favourite spot for local hobby fishermen. Nowadays, Edithburgh’s main claim to fame is the giant Wattle Point Wind Farm, looming on the horizon with its 66 huge turbines set just outside the village to the southwest. In spite of the wind farm, the village is a popular visitor destination, with nearly 200 lakes set nearby, all of which give fine fishing opportunities. Sea fishing off the jetty, Sultana Point Beach or on boat trips yields mullet and whiting in numbers, with the beach also a hub for snorkellers, scuba divers and sailboarders. Local pubs and Edithburgh hotels cater for visitors all year round, giving a friendly welcome and facilities for cooking the day’s catch! other spellings: edithburghhotels sa, edithbrugh hotell sa, edithburg otel sa, editburgh hote sa
