The Kimberly region of Western Australia was named after the African Kimberley diamond fields for its topographical resemblance as well as its own diamond and gold mines. The town’s claim to fame is its gap between high and low tides, with its 11.8m surge one of the highest in the world, increasing further with storm surges.
