One of the stunning Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland, Daydream Island is a tiny landmass surrounded by reefs that sit close to the shoreline and are teeming with sea life.

As such, the area is excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving.

An outdoor aquarium here and wallabies bouncing around the resort only add to the wild sense of the place.

Sailing and jet-skiing are for hire, while on dry land the resort offers tennis, badminton and volleyball for those that are keen to get away from the beach, the main draw for many.

Getting here requires just a short ferry ride from Hamilton Island, which hosts Great Barrier Reef Airport, or the even closer Airlie Beach on the mainland.

Daydream Island hotels are confined to just a couple of resorts on either end of the island which offer a whole range of facilities for guests.
